We all have a new appreciation for the freedom of getting out and about since COVID-19. There is a group of people who already knew the trials of being home-bound before this virus changed all our lives. This unselfish group are the family and friends providing 24/7 care to their loved one with a life limiting illness. They do this so their loved one can remain at home during their final days, weeks, months. Volunteers can make a huge difference in both the patient and family's life by providing presence for 2-3 hours so the caregiver can get to an appointment, grocery shop or just get out for a walk to revive their spirit. The companionship you provide the patient and the much needed break you provide the caregiver, make a world of difference. Rest assured volunteers provide no nursing skills or personal care duties. It is all about being a safe, compassionate person that is reliable and steadfast. Crossroads Hospice volunteering can be a meaningful and life-changing opportunity. We practice Universal Precautions and COVID-19 safety guidelines. For more information about the role and training, contact kathy.fetters@crossroadshospice.com or 816-389-5426

Mission Statement
Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care is committed to being at the forefront of the hospice care industry, to continually shape the way palliative care is viewed and administered so that everyone can expect more from us.
Description
Expect More From Us. We Do. Why not? That's a question we ask ourselves every day. In fact it is the question responsible for our beginning and has made us what we are today. Because "why not?" helps us find new and better ways to deliver hospice care to patients, families, caregivers, and health care professionals alike. It helps us connect with our communities, share our knowledge, be accessible 24/7, innovate, lead, and raise the bar. In fact "why not?" has helped us create a hospice experience we believe is second to none...and are confident you'll agree.
