Do you enjoy using your computer, smartphone, or tablet? Are you the guru of most things "electronic"? Ashby Village is seeking new volunteers to support members with technology and electronic devices!
Volunteers help individual members in their homes with a range of requests, such as:
-advice on purchase of a new computer, smartphone, tablet, or printer;
-installation and set-up;
-tips on how to use software or devices;
-tips on computer security;
-problems with computer, tablet, smartphone, printer, wifi, or internet.
-setting up or troubleshooting printers
-programming DVRs/DVDs/answering machines, etc.
-streaming to TV (Roku, Chromecast, FireTV, etc.)
-troubleshooting cable connections
Volunteers may also offer support groups or one-time workshops to help members learn to use technologies with others. In groups, members build knowledge about useful and enjoyable ways to use their devices.
Qualifications Skills with some of the following:
- Computers, or smartphones, or tablets
- Either PC and/or Mac (OS, iOS) operating systems
- Wifi set-up and troubleshooting
Experience supporting people with technology use:
- Ability to engage and communicate with members
- Problem-solving skills (and a sense of humor about the challenges!)
- Ability to work independently
Volunteer vetting is required and will include completion of Ashby Village Volunteer Training. Must be 18 years old to work one-on-one with seniors.
