Position Description
Special Events Interns assist the Special Events team in achieving fundraising goals through special events planning and production. Further, interns provide fundraising support for recruiting participants, generating donations, and securing third party events.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with ARCW events production: primarily - AIDS Walk Wisconsin & 5K Run (October), Jolly Holly Folly (November); supporting - AIDS Ride Wisconsin (July), and other third party events throughout the state.
  • Identifies and secures commitments of participation or donation from individuals or corporate donors
  • Helps coordinate event participation and donor recruitment through initial contact and follow-up communications (i.e., mail, email, and phone calls)
  • Assists with event day logistics to coordinate and facilitate event setup and production
  • Performs office duties including answering phones, checking voicemail, emailing, copying, filing, mailing, and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree program in event planning, communications, marketing, or related field; experience in event planning is highly preferred
  • Ability to type, with a working knowledge of the following software/systems: Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Microsoft Windows operating system, databases
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with reliable, insured vehicle; or other reliable transportation
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated within team environment
  • Knowledgeable and sensitive to HIV/AIDS and related issues
