The Women's Center of Jacksonville's Expanded Horizons Literacy Program has exciting volunteer opportunities which include:

Tutor

Tutor women with reading, GED, ESL, or computer skills either one to one or in a small group. Tutor training is given and materials are provided for your use.

Exhibit Volunteer/Speaker

Staffs a table or speaks several times a year at a local fair, event or organization and educates the public on the services the Women's Center offers. Choose daytime, evening or weekend hours.

Day Office Volunteer

Assists literacy program staff with data entry, filing and photocopying 1-4 times a week.

Trainer

Facilitates a portion of the center's woman-positive training session for volunteer tutors 4-6 times a year. Teachers, experienced speakers and literacy experts are encouraged to apply.

Computer Program Assistant

Assists a small group of women with their computer skills.

Special Project Volunteer

Assists with agency special events or projects 2-3 times a year.

Library Assistant

Assists with organizing and cataloging materials for the Women's Center library once a week.

Since 1994, the Women's Center of Jacksonville has assisted thousands of women in Northeast Florida by providing quality programs, services, and advocacy. The Women's Center of Jacksonville is dedicated to supporting each woman's right to develop a sense of self as a significant and creative individual. The Women's Center of Jacksonville encourages self determination by helping women help themselves. Our service areas include Information and Referral, Counseling Services, Support and Personal Growth Groups, Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy, Community Education, and Community Outreach.
