Become a volunteer usher with A.C.T. and join our great team! We are looking for outgoing, friendly people who love live theater and enjoy assisting the public. Volunteer ushers hand out program, greet patrons, and help our staff seat patrons prior to each performance. After each performance, volunteer ushers help our staff collect programs that have been left in the theater.
Volunteers are expected to usher for one performance during the run of each of our eight shows throughout the 2019/2020 season. Volunteer ushers get to enjoy the full performance each time they come to help us. There are also other benefits to being a volunteer usher with A.C.T.
Volunteer ushers are required to attend an orientation/training session once per year.

About American Conservatory Theater
Location:
Human Resources, 30 Grant Ave., San Francisco, CA 94108, US
Mission Statement
American Conservatory Theater nurtures the art of live theater through dynamic productions, intensive actor training in our conservatory, and an ongoing dialogue with our audience and our community. We embrace our responsibility to conserve, renew, and reinvent the rich theatrical traditions that are our collective legacy, while exploring new artistic forms and new communities. Commitment to the highest standards informs every aspect of our creative work.
Description
A.C.T. seeks to develop the artist in every actor. We cultivate educated men and women of the theater with a critical sense who will energize and advance performance in America. Our training prepares actors to succeed in all aspects of the profession, but our primary goal is to prepare artists for a lifelong investment in the theater. Our curriculum combines rigorous training in the practical disciplines of acting with the study, rehearsal, and performance of classical and contemporary works drawn from the world repertoire. We believe that actors who have an intellectual and visceral grasp of dramatic literature, who recognize a relationship between new and classical work, are uniquely prepared to collaborate in the development of new dramatic forms. Our association with the A.C.T. mainstage, as well as our location, enriches every aspect of our program, bringing students of many backgrounds into close and regular contact with writers, directors, designers, and actors of many theatrical traditions. It is through this exposure to professionals at work--and to their audience--that our students learn what drama means to the life of a community, and how the life of a community enriches its theater.
