ORGANIZATION: San Diego Children's Discovery Museum

The Exhibit Volunteer or Intern will work closely with the Exhibit Manager to assist in the fabrication of new hands-on exhibits as well as improving existing exhibits and facilities.

Opportunities

  • Assist with fabrication of new exhibits, facility add-ons

  • General maintenance, repair, refinishing as needed

  • Execute exhibit installations and de-installations

  • Assist with general care and maintenance of Museum grounds, parking lot, and perimeter. Keep clear of obstructions, trash, debris.

  • Assist with garden maintenance, seasonal planting, etc.

  • Clean, organize, and maintain workshop garage

  • Operate and maintain power tools and equipment

  • Assist with set up and break down of Special Events

Qualifications

  • Coursework in woodworking, permaculture, landscaping, or other related field desired

  • Experience with woodworking, construction, and shop equipment desired

  • Demonstrated experience in creative thinking and problem solving

  • Excellent math, organizational, and time management skills required

  • Must have excellent attention to detail, written and verbal communication

  • Must enjoy working outside

  • Must be able to function in a high energy team environment
