At the Freedom Farmers Market, Farms To Grow, Inc, lives out its mission of improving Black and underserved farmers' access to urban markets.
Located in the heart of North Oakland, the Freedom Farmers Market is a space to socialize, reconnect with our roots, and build a future where food is intertwined with land, culture, and community.
Discover this haven of harmony and community where we unite to celebrate the legacy and promote the sustainability of Black and underserved farmers.
Key Volunteer Opportunities:
- Seasonal Reopening: July-November 2024
- Market Shifts:
- Market Set-Up (7:00 am - 11:00 am): Kickstart the day and contribute to the setup for a vibrant morning.
- Info Booth (10 am - 3:00 pm): Keep the energy alive and provide knowledgeable assistance to visitors.
- Market Closing (11:00 am - 3:00 pm): Contribute to a smooth market close through takedown.

Our mission is to assist African American farmers and other underserved farmers/ranchers maintain and create sustainable farms and spaces to grow food and motivate the next generation of farmers to grow sustainable and with community in mind.
Description
FARMS TO GROW, INC is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to advocating and providing technical assistance to Black farmers throughout the country. Farms To Grow, Inc. is committed to sustainable farming and innovative agriculture practices which preserve the cultural and biological diversity, the agroecological balance of the local environment.
Farms To Grow, Inc. aims to increase the capacity of underserved farmers to keep their farm operations and establish farming as a viable career for future generations. Underserved farmers may include Native American, Hispanic, other minority groups, women, the physically challenged and limited access organic farmers.
