Exploring Entrepreneurship with Junior Achievement at the School of Economics
200 NW 14 St, Blue Springs, MO 64015
8am-2pm (training from 8-9am)
Casual Attire & Comfortable Shoes | Lunch and Training Provided
Anyone age 14+ is welcome to volunteer!
At the School of Economics, students arrive as immigrants on Ellis Island. The International Bazaar setting provides the students with experience earning money and making wise spending or saving decisions. It is reality-based education that prepares elementary-aged children to manage their financial future.
During the 5-hour simulation, the students take out a loan from the School of Economics bank to open a store, purchase supplies, and produce and sell merchandise-with the ultimate goal being to pay back the loan and earn a profit. Volunteers assist students as they run their own businesses by advising and guiding them through financial and operating decisions.
This is also a great way for high schoolers to get service hours, or to volunteer as a family, as anyone over the age of 14 is welcome to volunteer!
Dates: June 16, 20, and July 12, 14
