DSACT with the Autism Society is thrilled to be hosting a bike camp for our members this year but we can't do it without volunteer support. Bike camp will be a fun and rewarding volunteer opportunity and we hope you will join us!

WHAT TO EXPECT

Each rider needs two volunteers to assist them during their daily 75 minute session. Riders will be riding a specialized bicycle designed to teach them to balance appropriately for the entire 75 minutes each day. For the first two days we will be inside; starting Wednesday, riders will graduate from the roller bikes and will move outdoors to two wheel bikes.

WHO CAN VOLUNTEER?

Anyone 16 years and older.

This is an active volunteer role. Volunteers will walk, jog or run alongside a rider as they are learning to ride a bike during a 75-minute session (with short breaks) for 5 days Monday through Friday. You will provide encouragement and physical support, as needed.

SHIFT INFORMATION

Bike Camp will be held daily Monday, July 31st - Friday, August 4th. Volunteers are encouraged to commit to the same shift(s) for all five days of camp. This is best for everyone as both rider and volunteer gain trust and confidence in skills daily.

Shift times (please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled shift for a daily briefing): 10:05-11:20am, 11:40am-12:55PM, 2:00pm-3:15pm, 3:35pm-4:50pm, 5:10pm-6:25pm.

Volunteers can sign up for no more than 3 shifts daily. DSACT will email all volunteers to confirm their assigned shift time(s).

Please plan to attend our volunteer orientation on Sunday, July 30th at 4PM. at Dripping Springs Ranch Park.
