The Altavista Area/Campbell County Habitat for Humanity's 2017 Blitz Build will be on October 14-15, 2017 on Amherst Ave. in Altavista, VA. We will be building two safe, decent, and affordable homes for two families in need, and we need your help. We need skilled and non-skilled labor to complete these homes. We estimate to have 250 volunteers throughout the weekend. We will start at 8:00am on both Saturday and Sunday and end at 5:00pm. You can come for a few hours, work one day, or work both. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided on both days. Please join us in furthering our mission of removing substandard housing in the Altavista and Campbell County area. We are Raising Walls and Raising Opportunities.

Description
The vision of the Altavista Area / Campbell County Habitat for Humanity, Inc. affiliate i s to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from Altavista and Campbell County by building safe, decent, and affordable housing.
Altavista Area/Campbell County HFH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Habitat houses are sold to our partner families at no profit and no interest mortgages. The partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.
