ORGANIZATION: Wholly H2O

Water Inforgraphic

Full through May 10, 2023. Taking summer internship requests.
We are creating a super cool on-line and in-person set of creek tours in the San Francisco East Bay. We're seeking a few folks who have the capacity and interest to do deep research into the creek's history - flora, fauna, geology, city planning, race relations,
(You can see the livestreams that will be embedded in Temescal Creek: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQpdHgRKqZix9UxkboVxyQ)

Work includes:

  • Really interesting research into the creek's history, community groups and activities, scientific studies, primary species, restoration activities, social and environmental justice and where it is daylighted (above ground) and where the creek is underneath in pipes.
  • Writing text, gathering existing images for website and for printable creek guide
  • Walking/biking the creeks to take pictures to create online maps with points of interest for those unable to currently get out into the watersheds (or who aren't local).
  • Supporting the live-streaming creek walking with a naturalist events that we're doing in various watersheds
These tours will be so useful to folks stuck at home, and also for those who live nearby who may be able to safely walk sections of the creeks. In the long run, when we're able to do the creek walks in public

We're looking for 2-3 additional volunteers that are capable researchers, can take initiative, keep to a schedule, good team communicator, and enjoy themselves as they work. Big BIG plus if you are a good writer. There are a lot of moving pieces so you need to be organized. Loving creek ecology isn't a bad add-on.
