Make a difference in the lives of vulnerable community members and at-risk families in Southern Orange County by working with Taller San Jose Hope Builders.

Transforming Individuals, Families and Neighborhoods, Taller San Jose Hope Builders provides tools to build new lives. Vulnerable young adults in Orange County are provided an opportunity to support themselves and their young family or turn away from gangs and prepare for a better future.

St. Joseph Worker Program placement opportunity includes position as a volunteer coordinator.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Volunteer Coordinator for Taller San Jose Hope Builders is responsible for the overall development and coordination of the organization’s volunteer program, combining leadership, vision and creativity with practicality and organization in the recruitment, placement, training, formation, evaluation and acknowledgement of volunteers.

POSITION DIMENSIONS:

· Works directly with Directors and Managers in the assessment of volunteer needs.

· In conjunction with the leadership team, recruits volunteers for positions. Oversees departments’ volunteer requests.

· Conducts individual interviews and assessments with all interested volunteers and makes appropriate placements.

· Assists with orientation, training and supervision of volunteers.

· Develops and oversees all record keeping procedures related to volunteers, maintaining a volunteer database and designing an inventory of occupations, talents and interests.

· Responds appropriately to all volunteer interest submissions.

· Supports compliance with volunteer position requirements.

· Develops a strategic recruitment plan and methods of encouraging volunteer participation.

· In coordination with the Marketing Manager, develops recruitment materials and content for website, social media posts, e-blasts, volunteer listings, etc., to ensure marketing consistency and publicize volunteer opportunities.

· Coordinates volunteer recognition activities and assists staff with methods and other ways to affirm and thank volunteers.

· Prepares reports as needed.

· Participates in staff activities and meetings, and other duties as assigned.

· Ability to be flexible with time commitments and scheduling.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Creative self-starter with positive, optimistic attitude
  • Experience in volunteer management and recruitment, preferred but not required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Computer, database, report generation skills
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines, work harmoniously and cooperatively with other staff
  • Well-organized, flexible and able to manage different projects concurrently and often under pressure; able to set priorities and manage time effectively in a team environment.

Description

We invite women between the ages of 21 - 35 to make a personal commitment to serve their dear neighbor while enriching themselves in four core values of spirituality, justice, leadership, and community and simplicity. Our workers live and work in Orange County; together forming an intentional community. Placements are in social services, education, healthcare, advocacy and systemic change.

We provide monthly stipend, room & board, transportation to and from work, health insurance. We also offer the option of spiritual mentoring, student loan deferment/forbearances, and most importantly support from the sisters.
