To provide care to young, sick or injured animals and to improve the sociability of frightened animals, all as a means to increase their chances at adoption.
Volunteer takes special needs animal(s) home for a pre-determined length of time. Length of stay is determined by the ARL staff veterinarian or the Medical Supervisor. Volunteer provides all care for the animal(s), asking for help/advice if necessary. Volunteer brings the animal(s) back when health, weight, age, socialization, and/or behavioral goals have been met.

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa is a dynamic, progressive-minded animal shelter dedicated to animals and people. In addition to our daily operations of caring for over 15,000 animals that come into our shelter every year, we also offer programs including pet adoption, pet behavior counseling, puppy & dog training classes, spay/neuter, animal cruelty intervention and our extensive volunteer program.
