We Honor Veterans

Caretenders Hospice, now affiliated with LHC group healthcare, is proudly a partner of We Honor Veterans and we are committed to supporting individuals who have served our country with honor and valor. We believe this specialized volunteering approach provides our veterans with a unique opportunity that only an individual with similar experiences serving our country can provide them.

"Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country's cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause."
Abraham Lincoln

Volunteers provide our residents with social and emotional support. During regularly scheduled visits, volunteers may assist with Veteran's Day Ceremonies, sharing stories, recording stories for the Veteran History Project, providing our veterans with companionship, and assisting families in applying for a Presidential Memorial Certificate.

Caretenders Hospice serves people residing in their own residence, which may include private homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted and independent living communities, and memory care units. We have volunteer positions open in the North Metro (Anoka, Champlin, Blaine, North Oaks), Central Metro (Minneapolis, Saint Paul), South Metro (Edina, Eagan, Bloomington), and the West Metro (Minnetonka, Plymouth, Eden Prairie).

Most of our volunteers commit approximately 1-2 hours of their time each week. Our visiting times are flexible and individualized to what is best for the resident as well as the volunteer. Our volunteers are provided with all the training they may need and given the full support of our dedicated Brookdale Hospice Team.

Make a Difference in the Lives of Hospice Patients

Whether you want to see the impact you can make in the lives of patients directly or prefer to work behind the scenes, we invite you to become a member of a dedicated group of compassionate caregivers who serve as vital members of our hospice team. Caretenders Hospice - a proud member of the LHC Group family - has been serving Hennepin/Ramsey/Scott/Dakota counties for 10 years, and we have the honor of being a Level 3 We Honor Veterans partner.

Hospice volunteers often say that helping those in need at a critical point in their lives is profoundly and emotionally meaningful. To learn how you can become a hospice volunteer in your community, call us today at 952-831-0193, email our Volunteer Manager, Dana Chandler at Dana.Chandler@lhcgroup.com, or apply on Volunteer Match today.
