Nikkei Horizons is a continuing education program for active older adults that offers a range of health and wellness activities and even take groups on international and domestic tours. In 2017, we have five trips planned and are beginning to formulate our 2018 tour schedule. Our participants and members range in age from 30 to 90 and attend educational, fitness and recreational classes and workshops. We sponsor resource days to educate the community about important topics like fall prevention and caregiver resources.

The Continuing Education Assistant will conduct research to identify interesting and low cost recreational opportunities and activities appropriate for active seniors. He/she will propose workshops and tours and make initial inquiries with venues, presenters and organizations to determine price, logistics and appropriateness of the activity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Continuing Education Assistant will assist the Nikkei Horizons Associate, Chief Operating Officer, and the Community Relations Manager in the planning and implementing of the quarterly activity schedule and be responsible for the following activities:
* Conduct research to identify places and activities of interest to our clientele.
* Participate in planning meetings to create our quarterly schedule
* Write class/program descriptions for the quarterly schedule book
* Create social media posts
* Proofread program booklet
* Distribute schedule book and marketing materials
* Assist with class and workshop registration
* Data entry into on line class registration system (Activenet)
* Represent Nikkei Horizons at outreach events
* Other duties as assigned
* Conducts internet research to identify interesting and appropriate activities for active seniors.
* Proposes new activities to Nikkei Horizons staff
* Makes initial contact with organizations, venues to make inquiries about logistics, pricing, private seating, group tours, etc.
* Develops preliminary budget and timeline for the event/outing
* Writes up event/workshop description
* May assist with implementation including escorting, set up, and registration

Qualifications/ Requirements:

* Excellent verbal and written English
* Excellent computer skills
* Enthusiasm for recreation, travel and continuing education
* Interest or experience coordinating wellness and/or recreation programming
* Ability to work well as part of a team.
* Committed to the Keiro Northwest mission and values
* Knowledge of or ability to conduct internet research
