The Senior Center of Boulder City had to close it's doors to the public on March 16, 2020 due to the COVID-19 virus, in an effort to protect the health of our senior clients, participants, and staff. Prior to COVID, SCBC was designated as a congregate meal site which provided nutritious and balanced meals that are very affordable; along with, an opportunity to engage with peers, fighting senior isolation. When we decided to close, we expanded our Meals on Wheels program in an effort to still feed the people that heavily relied on our service. The program went from 40 clients to 140 in one day, so we are still in need of at least 10 additional drivers to help deliver these meals. This position can be ongoing with a consistent, weekly schedule or there is the option to be a fill-in or back up driver. Routes take a little over an hour to complete, Monday thru Friday.Volunteers for this position typically drive one or two days per week. We had to create two shifts to accommodate the influx of deliveries which are at 10:45am and 11:45am. One hour of service per week can make all the difference in somebody else's life.
