Produce gleaned after Capitol Hill Framers market on a Sunday.

Help collect fresh produce from the Capitol Hill Farmers Market for JFS and Polack Food Bank clients. Collection takes place every second and fourth Sunday of the month. The Food Bank serves food insecure households in the Capitol Hill, Central District and Downtown neighborhoods; as well as vulnerable members of the Jewish community in the Puget Sound region. Food banks are a small but critical piece of the food security system for our most vulnerable community members.

Description

Jewish Family Service of Seattle began in 1892 with the sole purpose of resettling Eastern European and Sephardic Jewish refugees. Today, JFS supports the adjustment and employment of refugees and immigrants from all religions and cultures worldwide, including Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. With our many social service programs like family mentoring, financial assistance, ESL, citizenship classes, and job placement - we help new Americans become fully integrated members of our community. We encourage volunteers from all backgrounds!
