The following positions would offer a unique volunteer experience to those interested in entering the field of veterinary medicine, or seeking to help a 501c3 within the animal care/welfare field, dedicated to ending euthanasia caused by pet overpopulation.
Our main need is for client assistants at our weekly, low cost vaccine clinic. Opportunities can be as simple as greeting clients, and assisting them with patients. Also, assisting with filling out basic information on their paperwork, and getting to meet many different dogs and cats, of different breeds, colors, shapes and sizes!
Advance positions at our vaccine clinic, made available to long term volunteers, would offer knowledge of rabies vaccine protocols, preventative protocols, in-house testing, client interaction, and patient interaction. (And we are lucky enough to see the best kind of patients, cute pups and kitty cats!) This type of volunteer experience can prove extremely useful, as it gives a good "first look" into what working in the veterinary field actually entails. Those interested in becoming a veterinary assistant, technician or receptionist will certainly be able to take away some valuable knowledge from this volunteer position.
Additionally, we have hours available for assistance with data entry, and other clerical tasks, as they arise. Our clinics are paper based, and later, entered into a computer database system. Experience from this position would include working with AVImark (a very common veterinary database system), Excel, and Word.
*Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, with state issued proof of age.*
