Tree Planting in the Focus: HOPE Community

Event Description:

Focus: HOPE, Oakman Boulevard Community Association (OBCA) and Greening of Detroit would like to invite those tree loving volunteers to come spend a Sunday planting trees.

Volunteer duties: assist with digging the holes, planting, and watering the trees.

Supplies needed:

  • tools to assist with digging holes (please label your tools with your name)
  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses/goggles
  • Refillable water bottles

Attire:

  • Sturdy shoes (boots and gym shoes)
  • Long pants
  • Hat (to block the sun)

Please note:

  • This project will be off Focus: HOPE's campus, but within the community we serve.
  • Arrive on time, to be deployed to project site.
  • This is a family friendly activity as long as children are attended to and of age to participate in the project.

We will be working in light rain, medium to heavy rains will be rescheduled. You will receive a call/email by 11am if the activity will be rescheduled.

Liability waivers will be on site for you to complete to participate with this project.

Focus: HOPE is a human service organization. Founded in 1968 in the wake of the 1967 Detroit riots by Father Willam T. Cunningham (1930-1997) and co-founder Eleanor M. Josaitis (1931-2011), Focus: HOPE unites a multicultural community in common efforts to overcome injustice and build racial harmony. Over the years, Focus: HOPE has initiated practical solutions to the problems of hunger, economic disparity, inadequate education, and racial divisiveness. Answers can be found in Focus: HOPE's technology training programs, educational and corporate partnerships, and food programs.
