ORGANIZATION: Natural History Museum of Utah

The Natural History Museum of Utah sits on 17 acres of natural landscape. We need volunteers to help care for and preserve this natural landscape, so that Museum guests can appreciate and enjoy the natural world right outside our walls. As a Landscape Steward volunteer, you will be able to keep the natural landscape of the foothills "green" by keeping it free of both noxious/invasive weeds and herbicides. You'll gain valuable experience working plants, and get specialized training to learn about the natural habitat and care of native plants in the foothills.

Landscape Steward volunteers will assist with invasive species removal, trail maintenance, and biodiversity observation. Volunteers will be responsible for manually checking the grounds for noxious or invasive species, and removing weeds as needed. Volunteers will also report to the Green Team any new plant species that they observe on our landscape. This position includes physical labor (hiking, kneeling, bending, lifting, tool use, etc.) and working in a variety of weather conditions. Volunteers should plan to come wearing appropriate clothing (closed-toe shoes, long pants, sunscreen).
