Traffic Control is given the title of Fire Police in the Fire Service. The task maintains a safe environment for skilled rescue and fire suppression personnel to work. The task alsp occasionally requires the volunteer to control crowds.

The mission of the Hookstown Volunteer Fire Department is: 1. The protection of life and property 2. The acquisition, ownership and control of firefighting, lifesaving, and life and property preservation equipment, and the proper and necessary housing of same; 3. promotion of the general welfare and sociability of our Members; 5. The promotion of various organizations, social or otherwise; 6. the promotion of community, citizenship, public safety, or raising moneys for the benefit of such purposes .
