No One Left Behind is seeking Household Donations Manager for the San Francisco East Bay Chapter

No One Left Behind serves Afghan combat interpreters and combat support personnel who were promised asylum in the U. S. after serving in the Afghan war. Today, they are being forced to leave their homes in Afghanistan due to real threats by the Islamic State and Taliban for working for the US military. These refugees, who risked their lives and those of their families for our troops, arrive each week in the US unemployed with few funds and no household goods. Our mission is to provide them with the support to start a successful life in the US.

The San Franciso East Bay NOLB chapter provides various services but our Household Donations service is on hold and need of redesign and team development due to turnover of the Household Donations Manager. This position will work with our chapter leadership team (Intake Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, Strategic Relations Manager, Employment and Education Manager, Information Manager) to design a sustainable and effective service to provide household donations to newly arrived refugees (kitchen, beds, furniture, infant supplies, lap tops, etc.).

Once we resume our newly designed service and processes, our Household Donations Manager will utilize social media, established strategic business relationships, and other marketing tools to source home furnishings. He or she will lead their team to pick up and store donations, inventory and assess current refugee needs and deliver the items to newly arrived families.

About No One Left Behind

Location:

P.O. Box 3641, Merrifield, VA 22116, US

Mission Statement

No One Left Behind helps Afghan and Iraqi translators gain their U.S. Special Immigration Visas and ensures that they are properly resettled in America. When our Afghan and Iraqi allies resettle in the US, they usually come with nothing more than the clothes on their back and whatever they can fit into one suitcase. We feel that given their profound service to our nation's military while at war, these interpreters deserve better than years of waiting on seldom delivered visas and almost no support in resettling in America.

Description

We help with immigration services to interpreters and translators who are being denied visas due to the bureaucratic red tape. We provide furnished apartments, modest financial support to help cover the weeks it can take before their social service benefits (food, medical, etc.) begin, and employment placement assistance. We also pair up newly arrived refugees with other Iraqis and Afghans who have successfully immigrated to the US -- to help smooth the transition.
