We are looking for volunteers who are interested in gaining experience doing food production
in a commercial kitchen by working on our regular Friday food preparation shift from 5 pm to 9 pm, for our lunch and breakfast booth at the Saturday farmers' market at Grand Lake.
The food prep takes place in a commercial kitchen in Emeryville. No experience necessary but some preferred. Ideally we are looking for someone who can make a weekly or biweekly commitment for a minimum of three months. Come try it out and see if you like it.
Uhuru Foods & Pies is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Black Star Industries. This volunteer position support fundraising for the programs of the African People's Education and Defense Fund and the Uhuru Movement supporting independent economic development in the African community.
Every Saturday, we cook and serve egg scrambles, breakfast wraps and our very popular Green Goddess sandwich - pesto, mozzarella and greens on the famous Acme bread. The Friday food preparations makes this possible.
