Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in the Iberian Peninsula, Portugal was one of the World Powers that led the "discovery" of the Americas. Portugal is a founding member of NATO, OECD, and EFTA, yet it struggles with economic recession while the people suffer the consequences.
As a Volunteer in Portugal, you can serve in the city of Beja, a welcoming community striving to improve commerce and education through her people.
You can help this community by teaching youth and adults in classrooms and municipal learning centers.

Global Volunteers is a non-profit organization that has been giving short-term volunteers the chance to provide essential services to local people on service programs since 1984. At Global Volunteers you will be working under the direction of local leaders, while team members form groundwork for international peace via common, global understanding. We sustain authentic development projects with host communities and give volunteers wide opportunities to help.
