Are you passionate about art? Do you want to serve your community? Are you interested in hearing from youth and engaging with their diverse perspectives? If you answered yes to these questions, we hope that you’ll consider volunteering your time as a school touring docent at the Seattle Art Museum (SAM). School touring docents are in the galleries, leading tours for the more than 20,000 youth who visit the museum each year.

Equity and access is a fundamental value of SAM and docents are a huge part of this initiative. We’re looking for individuals to approach touring in a way that is welcoming, enthusiastic, and open to a broad range of visitors. School tours at SAM are interactive, discussion-based experiences that provide opportunities to students to connect their interests and abilities with SAM’s global collection. You don't need to be an art historian or an experienced teacher to be a docent--SAM will provide regular training, lectures, and resources so that your tours are engaging for all.

If interested, please visit SAM’s website for more information and to apply: http://www.seattleartmuseum.org/about-sam/volunteer#doc. Applications are accepted now through July 12.
