ORGANIZATION: A SAFE SPACE INC

This volunteer role will assist the Executive Director and the Website and Social Media Coordinator with scheduling and creating effective social media campaigns on the organization’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.

Duties:

  • Keep up with alerts and current issues in the LGBT+ community (preferably relating to LGBT youth in the Northern Virginia area)
  • Identify LGBT+ awareness days and build social media campaigns either leading up to or on the day of
  • Work with Website and Social Media Coordinator to compile social media postings by creating a monthly social media calendar and using HootSuite to schedule posts in advance
  • Monitor the effectiveness of social media posts using built-in social media analytics
  • Identify social media accounts to follow and engage with in order to increase our brand awareness
  • Be aware of events going on in the Northern Virginia and surrounding areas to build buzz around via social media
  • Occasionally attend events to post live on social media accounts

RequiredSkills:

  • 1-2 years of experience in Communications, Marketing or similar role
  • 1-2 years of experience managing social media accounts in a professional setting
  • Experience using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, HootSuite, and other social media platforms, as well as social media analytics tools

Preferred Skills (not required):

  • Basic graphic design
  • Video editing

Safe Space, Inc. is dedicated to providing a safe, accepting and supportive environment to combat social stigma, bullying and other issues faced by LGBT+ youth.

Description

We are a grass roots organization founded in March 2016 with the goal of providing a welcoming environment to LGBT+ youth in the Nothern Virginia area. Some of the programs we plan on offering include social activities, self defense classes, mentoring and tutoring. Age wise we are targeting high school students age 14 to 18.
