Blue Bag Recycling Program at Bear Mountain

In order to reduce waste at Bear Mountain State Park - especially on weekends and holidays in the summer - we have initiated a new recycling program at the park. But, we need your help! Volunteers are needed to help educate park patrons on the importance of recycling and to hand out bags to be used to collect recyclable items. Patrons fill them up and leave them on site for collection by park staff. It’s as simple as that. We need help between June and September, particularly on weekends and holidays. It’s a great chance to spend a day outside and help the environment at the same time! If you speak Spanish, we can REALLY use your help. Be an environmental hero and help us reduce plastic and glass waste in our landfills while spending the day at Bear Mountain. Please email alyx.gleason@parks.ny.gov for more information about the program and for dates and times!
