Camp Big Buddy - Camp Erin One Day Family Camp - Saturday, July 29th

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Catholic Hospice

  • 17 people are interested

Camp Erin is a free bereavement camp for youth ages 6 to 17 years old who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives. Camp Erin combines grief education and emotional support with fun, traditional camp activities. At Camp Erin, campers learn about grief and essential coping skills while creating meaningful connections with peers their age who have similar experiences.

On July 29, we are hosting a special one-day family camp for youth and their families to experience Camp Erin. We are currently accepting volunteer applications for Cabin Big Buddies (CBBs). Cabin Big Buddies are trained volunteers responsible for supporting the families assigned to you during our one-day camp.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with camp staff and other volunteers in creating a positive, fun, and supportive environment for families
  • Providing support and assistance to your assigned family with activities or when needed
  • Assisting with set-up and clean-up of activities
  • Other tasks and responsibilities assigned by camp staff

Being a Cabin Big Buddy is a truly rewarding experience that allows you to directly impact the lives of the families who are struggling with loss!

Candidates interested in becoming a Cabin Big Buddy must be 18 years or older and graduated High School. Candidates must have experience working with children and/or teens, and preferably have experience working with grief or have personal experience with grief/loss. Training will be provided virtually on Zoom in June 2023 and is a mandatory requirement for all candidates.

In order to apply, candidates must complete a volunteer application, submit two (2) professional references, attend mandatory training(s), and complete and pass a background and drug screenings prior to CBB assignment.

If interested in this opportunity, please contact our Volunteer Dept by phone at 954-826-9664 or e-mail at volunteerservices@catholichospice.org. Spots are limited and the last day to apply is Friday, June 16. So, apply soon!
