Camp Erin is a weekend three-day overnight camp specifically designed for kids and teens, ages 6 to 17, which have experienced the death of a significant person in their lives. At Camp Erin, kids have the opportunity to explore, express, memorialize and discover while being around other kids who have experienced similar losses. Cabin Big Buddies (CBBs) are trained volunteers responsible for the children in their cabins. CBBs are required to attend the "save your spot" pre-event which allows them to meet and get to know the campers they will be responsible. There are 2 assigned CBBs for every five children at camp. Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Knowing where their campers are at all times and accompanying them to all activities. Creating a positive, fun, supportive and energetic atmosphere for campers. Facilitating camper and cabin-group bonding. Participating in and or facilitating sharing activities. Taking campers to all meals and sharing the cabin with campers. Being a Cabin Big Buddy is a truly rewarding experience that allows you to directly impact the lives of children who are struggling with loss. A background check as well as a drug test will be conducted prior to CBB assignment, and a mandatory training session is required before camp. The training dates are TBD. Individuals interested in participating in Camp will be notified in advance of the training dates.
