VISTA Image

The AmeriCorps VISTA program, which is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service, engages AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members to make a 12-month commitment to helping poverty-fighting organizations within the community. Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters is recruiting for VISTA members to serve in a development position.

Projects will include creating new strategies for mentor recruitment and engagement to increase the number of youth served, and increase volunteer retention and longevity; working on the development of a new and/or current local fundraising event with the purpose of creating an event that is tailored to the local community and will produce favorable fundraising results that allows us to serve more youth.

In return for their year of service, VISTA members receive a modest living allowance, health coverage, sick and personal days, job experience, and training. In addition, upon completing the 12-month commitment, VISTA members can choose from a $1,500 cash stipend or $5,550 voucher to be used to repay qualified student loans. The service year is also a great way to learn new skills and gain job experience.
