Volunteers needed for fun event and festival!
The Mount Pleasant Business Improvement Area (MPBIA) is looking for volunteers for two amazing community festivals this summer! We need volunteers to come and make this year's events bigger and better than last year, so whether you're a returning volunteer, or it's your first time volunteering, we'd love to have you on our team!
The festivals will be taking place on Main Street on Sunday, June 18th & Saturday August 12th, 2016 . We are seeking volunteers for a variety of roles and shifts from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
There are lots of fun things to do, like handing out popcorn and cotton candy, assisting with set-up and take down, and taking photos/videos, as well as many opportunities to learn new skills and meet awesome people. We have 3-hour shifts available so volunteers can select a time that works best for them!
Information about the festivals:
Main Street Car Free Day (June 18th, 2017): The 9th annual Car Free Day festival is one of the largest city-wide festivals with an expected attendance of 150,000 people! With a focus on growing strong communities and reclaiming the pedestrian street, it is an amazing opportunity to be exposed to Mount Pleasant’s unique culture and get involved in one of Vancouver’s most authentic neighborhoods!
The Vancouver Mural Festival (August 12th, 2017): This is the second year that Mount Pleasant will be hosting the Vancouver Mural Festival, and we are excited! It will debut many new murals to the city and feature incredible art, musical performances, and fun activities for all. It is a terrific way to engage with the arts and culture community in the city!

The Mount Pleasant Business Improvement Area’s (MPBIA) mandate is to create an enhanced business environment and to assist our members with any related individual concerns.
Description
We are the second oldest BIA in Vancouver, founded in 1989 by local business people who saw a BIA as being an important vehicle to improve their business community and attain their collective goals. They understood a BIA can effectively organize and finance area improvement programs and marketing initiatives that would otherwise be unavailable to the individual local businesses.
We are very proud of the significant contributions this organization has made towards the amazing transformation that has taken place in our community. Main Street and Broadway is now a place that any business can be proud to call home and is considered one of the most desirable places to live in the city.
Our volunteer Board of Directors are duly elected members from among our local business people and property owners. They donate significant time and effort working your behalf both at the board and committee level.
Our organization exists to serve needs of the local community and we encourage you to become involved. Let us know of any concerns you may have, and your suggestions for beneficial initiatives we should pursue. Our Board of Directors, and our Executive Director, look forward to hearing from you.
