ORGANIZATION: Our City Forest

Our City Forest's (OCF) mission is to cultivate a green and healthy Silicon Valley by engaging community members in the appreciation, protection, growth and maintenance of our urban ecosystem, especially our urban forest. In alignment with this mission, OCF conducts a variety of programs in the local community, including nursery work, tree care, community planting, lawn conversions, and outreach and education.

For grant-reporting purposes, every activity and opportunity is carefully databased by OCF staff, members and volunteers. Training is provided prior to beginning volunteer work and concepts will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.

We are looking for individuals familiar with FileMaker, Excel or similiar datatabase/data analysis tools. Prior experience is not required, but individuals should be somewhat comfortable with computers.

Interested? Please contact Libi at volunteer@ourcityforest.org.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to cultivate a green and healthy Silicon Valley by engaging community members in the appreciation, protection, growth and maintenance of our urban ecosystem, especially our urban forest.

Description

The ultimate goal of the program is to facilitate the planting of one million trees in Silicon Valley, utilizing one million people. We have planted over 70,000 trees in San Jose, encouraging community members to join us in improving the environmental conditions of their communities. We focus on making a healthy urban forest accessible to all by offering services targeted towards disadvantaged communities because we believe a healthy environment should be available to all people, not just those who have the resources to access it.
