The Carter Burden Network, a nonprofit leader in aging services in New York City, is looking for a bright, energetic Development and Special Events Intern to join our Development team.

This opportunity is great for someone who is interested in learning the ins and outs of the nonprofit sector while building skills and adding valuable work experience to their resume. This internship will provide training in DonorPerfect, one of the top CRM (customer relationship management) softwares used by nonprofits.


  • Assist with daily office tasks including data/gift entry and donor management (DonorPerfect - training provided), preparing and mailing thank you letters to donors, proofreading, preparing meeting documents etc.
  • Assist with planning and executing special events and projects including the 2017 Gala on November 15th, 2017
  • Assist with planning and executing end-of-year fundraising appeals such as Giving Tuesday (November) and the Annual Appeal (November/December)
  • Provide marketing and light social media support


  • Bachelor's or Master's Level applicants only (degree-holding or currently enrolled)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Detail-oriented (have an eagle eye for typos!)
  • Interest in working in the nonprofit sector or aging services a plus

Additional Information

  • 10-15 hours a week, 2-3 days a week (with flexibility)
  • 3-4 months starting in November
  • Travel stipend available (Metrocard)
  • Our office is located on 109th Street in East Harlem
