The American Lung Association is hosting their annual summer asthma camp from Saturday, July 8-Sunday, July 9 at the Children's Beach House in Lewes, DE. We are providing transportation for children to get to camp from Wilmington and Dover. We are looking for a nurse who is interested in riding the bus, starting at Nemours (Wilmington) with a stop in Dover, then Lewes. This individual would stay at the Children's Beach House overnight/participate in camp then return home with campers on Sunday.
Other roles at camp include:
Essential Job Functions:
- Fulfill scheduled commitment for camp
- Help identify campers requiring additional attention with their health needs and asthma education
- Attend medical staff meetings/rounds as scheduled
- Complete and maintain charts per documentation guidelines
- Respond to emergency situations and set priorities for action
- Interact positively and professionally with health care team and camp staff
- Administer medication to camp group as scheduled; conduct bedtime assessments
- Assist with inventory and packing of health services/infirmary at close of camp
- Meet with parents at close of camp to review camper’s experience and medical care
Licensure and Experience:
- Licensed in state of camp program
- Related certifications such as CPR, PALS, ALS, etc. preferred, not mandatory
- Basic first aid skills
- Possess basic knowledge in: pathophysiology of asthma, medications utilized in the treatment of asthma, allergens and allergic responses

The American Lung Association works tirelessly to provide funding for research on curing lung disease, while leading the efforts to fight for clean air - including the Delaware Beaches new smoke free policies!
