We are currently seeking talented web developers for immediate hire. As a web developer for AsylumConnect, you will report directly to (and work closely with) our Director of Technology.

The web developer associate will help AsylumConnect with designing and developing its catalog, a web application serving LGBTQ asylum seekers in the U.S.

We are looking for a driven individual who is excited about making our website as user-friendly and maintainable as possible. This is an essential position and a fantastic opportunity for anyone with a working knowledge of web application design and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Report to (and work closely with) the Director of Technology.
  • Assist with web application development for the AsylumConnect catalog.
  • Write code to maintain server-side logic, manage the application database, and add new features.
  • Help develop the user interface and ensure a positive user experience.
  • Ensure the AsylumConnect catalog is mobile-friendly and cross-browser compatible.
  • Plan for future changes to our catalog website and web application.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with web application development.
  • Self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and work independently.
  • Proficient knowledge of a back-end programming language (e.g., Python, Ruby, Java, PHP).
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies and platforms, such as: JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Vision for the AsylumConnect catalog website and web application.
  • Passion for advancing the AsylumConnect catalog.
  • Bonus(es): Experience with user-centered design research and/or open-sourced code.
