Ranger
Ranger, a yearling Thoroughbred colt, came to HPL in August 2014. He was found roaming the streets in poor health. He had wounds on his face, legs, and body. He has healed and recovered since arriving at HPL. Ranger has a sweet personality and is ready for adoption. Be a part of something larger then yourself. We need you!

The Horse Protection League is looking for someone with fundraising experience who is inspired by its mission. The immediate goal is to raise $50,000 for a much needed new tractor and fencing. If this is a challenge that you find exciting, The Horse Protection League looks forward to hearing from you.

The Horse Protection League (HPL) was founded in 1994. It is dedicated to the rescue, care and welfare of horses; and to empowering people and horses to help each other. It provides food, shelter, care, rehabilitation and training to abused and abandoned horses. HPL also assists animal-control officers with cruelty intakes. Over the years, The Horse Protection League has been called upon by the ASPCA, the Humane Society of the United States and The Cloud Foundation to place neglected or unwanted horses in its care. All of these horses have been in need of a loving home.

In the summer of 1998, The Horse Protection League and the City of Arvada worked out a long-term lease agreement allowing HPL to use 48 acres of the historical Churches Ranch property to house the horses. The barn manager supervises day-to-day ranch operations and cares for the horses. Because The Horse Protection League has only 1.5 paid employees, the volunteers are HPL’s life’s blood. All the work such as mucking pens, property maintenance and fundraising is done by volunteers.

Like many non-profit organizations, The Horse Protection League has no real steady source of income. It relies solely on donations, grants and minor fundraising events to pay the bills. The HPL volunteer group keeps growing, as does its membership.
