ORGANIZATION: Human Services Campus

As a Post Office Assistant, volunteers would be part of one of the nations first post offices dedicated to serving the homeless community.

  • Get hands-on in the only post office of its kind! It provides our clients with a mailing address, a critical need when applying for a job or benefits.
  • Clients can receive mail addressed to them, or send their own mail from our address. Our mail room staff will direct you in sorting and stamping mail, assisting clients at the mail service window, or completing special projects.
  • Applicants must be able to work on their feet in a fast-paced environment, possess basic computer skills, organizational skills, be trauma informed or be willing to watch a short video on truama informed care, and have good language and communication skills.
Location: Human Services Campus (HSC) Post Office Tasks Include:
  • sorting and stamping daily mail trays
  • organizing mail and creating package slips
  • passing out mail to clients and HSC staff
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday -- 8:00 AM- 11:00 AM
Wednesday--12:00 PM- 3:00 PM If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the form on this site.
We also ask that you come and take a tour of the campus and see for yourself to get a feel for the community at the Human Services Campus!

  • morning / 08:00 AM to 11:00 AM
    This opportunity is for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at the time listed.
  • afternoon / 01:00 PM to 04:00 PM
    This opportunity is available on Wednesday afternoons only.

Description

AS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, THE HUMAN SERVICES CAMPUS, INC. (HSC):

  • Operates as the "front door" to the Campus via the Brian Garcia Welcome Center
  • Is the lead agency for single adult "coordinated entry" in the Valley, which means conducting intakes and assessments for all guests.
  • Connects individuals to a wide array of services guided by our HSC Navigator staff and provides matches to housing
  • When possible, we conduct "diversions" from the Campus by helping connect guests with family or friends
  • Provides additional hospitality resources including post office services and bag storage for Campus guests
  • Maintains a safe and secure Campus environment
  • Leads and fosters collaboration amongst the partner agencies to ensure our focus is ultimately about ending homelessness of our guests

  • Orientation or Training
  • We ask that you commit to at least three months to this position as it takes time to train, etc. .
  • Must attend Volunteer Orientation and shadowing with mailroom staff to determine if it will be a good fit for you.
