  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Come help us transform a house into a home for a homeless family transitioning to self-sufficiency.

We meet at storage unit, Armored Self Storage, 14245 S. 48th St., Phx 85044 at 8am, load the moving truck, drive to client's home, unpack moving truck, and set up the client's home with furniture and household items. Some assembling of furniture may be required. Lifting heavy furniture may be required. If you can't lift heavy furniture, we have other less strenuous work for you. A Volunteer Waiver and Confidentiality Agreement will need to be signed before volunteer work can begin. We can only fit two people in the moving truck so some volunteers will need to drive to client's home or ride with other volunteers. Location to be determined closer to move-in date. Times may vary depending on location of client's home and number of moves to completed.

We have professional movers helping with the furniture on this move but need volunteers for boxes, unpacking and setting up beds.

Mission Statement

Our mission is transforming lives through community, compassion, and essential home furnishings. Everyone should have the comforts of a home.

Description

Furnishing Dignity, an Arizona non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, collects and redistributes donated household furnishings (new and or gently used) to low-income people in need. Our clients are recovering from crises such as homelessness, domestic violence, disability, natural disaster or other traumatic events and are making their way to self-sufficiency. Furnishing Dignity provides a variety of household items, depending on the needs of the client. The most requested items are beds for children who have been sleeping on the floor with little more than a blanket, as well as pots and pans to cook a nutritious meal at home. For a variety of reasons, many lower-income families and individuals have a place to live but need help with their furnishings. We work to cover that gap, with the help of volunteers and donors.
