Tram Operator - Resident Volunteer

ORGANIZATION: Florida Park Service District 1

  • 1 person is interested

At Topsail Hill Preserve State Park resident volunteers are volunteers who aid park staff in the operation, maintenance, and care of state parks. In return, resident volunteers get a campsite at no charge and the satisfaction of performing an important and much-needed job. This volunteer will operate the tram that transports visitors to and from the beach from within the park. This requires a valid driver’s license to operate a full sized pickup truck with 2 attached trailers capable of hauling of 50 total passengers through a section of the Preserve. The safety of all passengers, pedestrian and bicycle traffic is critical on the Tram road.

About the Park:

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park offers a wide variety of natural resources including 3.2 miles of secluded, white sand beaches with majestic dunes over 25 feet tall. Three rare coastal dune lakes provide excellent freshwater fishing. Although boats are not allowed, fishing from the shoreline yields bass, bream, panfish, and catfish. Lakes, pristine beaches, old-growth long leaf pines, sand pine scrub, and a variety of wetlands offer a bird-watching and hiking paradise. Visitors may bike, walk, or enjoy a quick ride to the beach on our timely tram service to swim, fish, sunbath, or beachcomb. Gregory E. Moore RV resort features a (non-heated) swimming pool and shuffleboard courts.
