This is your chance to have one on one interactions with patients. As a pastoral care volunteer you visit newly admitted patients in noncritical care areas providing initial basic spiritual and emotional support to patients and families. You will also inform patients and families of the availability of staff chaplains and services provided by Pastoral Care department. Knows limitation of visits and makes referrals to chaplains.

Excellent hearing, vision and speech. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must have clinical training for hospital ministry and/or experience as primary Pastoral Caregiver in a parish setting (as documented by appropriate references and as deemed sufficient by the Director of Pastoral Care). Must be in good standing with his/her own ecclesiastical authority, as evidenced by a letter of endorsement or recommendation. Must be willing to accept and support person of any faith tradition or no faith. Must not impose on anyone, one’s own personal beliefs or traditions. Must interview and be accepted. Openings at large, busy Cox South Hospital.
