Get inspired this summer as a Creative Action Summer Camp Volunteer!
Want to help kids learn about how art can change the world? Then spend your summer with Creative Action as a Summer Camp Volunteer!
Creative Action is looking for dedicated, enthusiastic volunteers to help make our summer camps a success. Volunteers help our professional Teaching Artists during creativity classes with games and art projects, help supervise and mentor youth during recess and lunch time, and support our staff and students at final sharings for friends and family at the end of each week!
Volunteering at our summer creativity camps is a great way to work with amazing youth and passionate Teaching Artists while inspiring social change through the arts.
We offer summer camps with a variety of creative themes at 5 locations throughout Austin. Learn more about our summer camps here: https://creativeaction.org/2018-summer-camps/
Volunteer hours are flexible!

Mission Statement
Creative Action uses the creative arts to spark and support the social, emotional and academic development of young people. Through interactive classroom performances, after school residencies and community based programs, Creative Action's team of professional teaching artists inspire youth to be creative artists, courageous allies, critical thinkers and confident leaders in their community.
Description
Since 1997 Creative Action (formerly Theatre Action Project) has worked to bring dynamic interactive performances and after school classes to thousands of K-12 youth in the greater Austin area. Creative Action reaches more than 17,500 young people annually with 600+ weekly hours of programming. We are committed to supporting historically underserved communities through our innovative arts programming: our programs serve 85% low-income youth and 70% Latino or African-American youth.
Our programs expose young people to critical social problems and offer opportunities for them to creatively think about how they can be a part of solutions to these problems. We teach healthy communication, encourage an appreciation for diversity and inspire people to have compassion for others. Some of the core social issues and life skills our programs address include: low self esteem, bullying, conflict resolution, dating violence, diversity, access to the arts and literacy.
