NOTE: new volunteer trainings available coming up in June, 2023!

"The people we meet in hospice have a long-lasting effect on our lives. At the same time, our being present for patients and families undoubtedly has a far-reaching ripple effect on them as well." -Kaiser Permanente Hospice Volunteer

Is your heart drawn to the meaningful work of hospice? Please send us a message and we'd love to explore opportunities with you!

Kaiser Permanente Washington's Hospice Program seeks volunteers to offer empathetic support and services to hospice patients and their families. We currently have a high need for volunteers in North King and Snohomish counties.

Volunteers are indispensable members of our hospice teams by being there with the dying and their families - most importantly - but also serving in specific that include:

  • Kind and compassionate presence at the bedside
  • Visiting, reading aloud, listening to music, crafting, etc.
  • Staying with a patient while caregiver rests, runs errands, recharges
  • Running errands, grocery shopping, assisting patients with small tasks
  • Legacy video filming and editing, and/or other types of legacy projects
Trainings are offered both virtually and in-person, including COVID-19 precautions training.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older, be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or complete medical or religious exemption process,
and complete a screening and training program prior to performing services. Volunteers do not need to be Kaiser Permanente Washington (formerly Group Health) members.
