Pet Therapy Volunteers
Goal: "Patients experience the unconditional love of an animal"
AseraCare is looking to provide joy and companionship with pets. Trained volunteers will bring certified pets to visit patients and bring a sense of fulfillment as only animals can. When pets are used as a healing tool they can decrease patient stress, anxiety, and pain and increase the patient’s sense of warmth and love.
What can Pet Therapy Volunteers Do?
- Be a listening ear to stories
- Provide relief to patients or caregivers in grief
- Create heartwarming interactions between patients and therapy animals
All Pet Therapy animals must:
- Be at least one year old
- Be certified through a proper organization (We can refer you)
- Have all current vaccinations and pass a health screening by a veterinarian
- Be cleaned and groomed before each visit
This volunteer opportunity is available to the following types of volunteers
Adult (18+)
We need volunteers who are free at these times
Weekdays
Hours between 8am-8pm
Weekends
Hours as needed

AseraCare is a hospice agency that provides care to patient in the end stages of life. We serve patients in their own homes, nursing homes, or assisted living facilities.
We focus on serving the emotional, spiritual and physical needs of our team, patients and families with a sense of compassion, urgency and customer service. AseraCare is passionate about creating a culture that is dedicated to the alleviation of human suffering which finds expression through the ongoing gentle acts of kindness, sympath and compassion. Volunteers at AseraCare will be a friend in someone's end of life journey to ensure they are comfortable.
AseraCare Hospice volunteers enhance quality of life and reduce the burden of caregiving by providing dirrerent types of support to patients and families. Companions, pet therapy, music volunteers, Reiki Practitioners, Massage therapists, and more visit our patients on a regular basis. If you wish to share your heart and help a terminally ill patient in any way you can contact our Volunteer Coordinator to learn about our exciting new opportunities!
