The West Philadelphia Alliance for Children (WePAC) is a local nonprofit that engages volunteers to reopen and operate elementary school libraries in Philadelphia. In our vision, all Philadelphia students will be empowered with the literacy skills vital to their success and the prosperity of our community. WePAC has now reopened 9 school libraries (post-pandemic) where we place dedicated volunteers who provide library services to thousands of children each week. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our libraries are in great need of reorganization.
This summer (2023), we are seeking service groups to help re-organize one of two libraries - both in West Philadelphia. Each library re-organization can be completed within 20-30 service hours (ie. one week, 4 hours per day). We would like to do these place-based projects in late June or during July.
If you or your group are interested in hosting a service event at one or more of our school library sites, we encourage you to volunteer with us today!
