The West Philadelphia Alliance for Children (WePAC) is a local nonprofit that engages volunteers to reopen and operate elementary school libraries in Philadelphia. In our vision, all Philadelphia students will be empowered with the literacy skills vital to their success and the prosperity of our community. WePAC has now reopened 19 school libraries where we place dedicated volunteers who provide library services to thousands of children each week. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our libraries are in great need of reorganization. If you or your group are interested in hosting a service event at one or more of our school library sites, we encourage you to volunteer with us today!

Large group service events help sustain our library programming in a variety of ways. Large groups enable WePAC to continue to build our library collections, expand our reach to different schools and ultimately engage & empower Philadelphia elementary school students in reading and literacy. Even though the projects are normally behind the scenes, they are a huge benefit to the volunteer teams that run our library programming. WePAC relies very heavily on volunteer input. The hours our volunteers’ spend in the libraries, seeing students just couldn’t be done unless we hosted numerous large group service events to get our libraries operational. Should you decide to have your service opportunity with WePAC, know your service will be a key component of WePAC’s success!

The location for your group service event(s) will be discussed with WePAC's Program Director after interest is expressed. However, most of WePAC's school libraries are located in the West Philadelphia, with the exception of two.
