ORGANIZATION: Trail Center

The Trail Center is an all-volunteer organization that, on one Saturday each month, constructs and maintains hiking trails in the Bay Area.

On this workday, we’ll be continuing the trail construction project we began on National Trails Day in early June. We’re building a new trail and constructing new steps to make the current "run-down-the-hill" use trail (to the beach) behind CuriOdyssey at San Mateo County's Coyote Point Recreation Area safer and accessible for more people.

During our first workday, we final brushed the new trail corridor and constructed a preliminary tread on about 450 feet of new trail. In this second workday, we’ll finish the trail tread and construct steps over about a 40-foot length. While much of the existing poison oak in the area will have been removed by this workday, volunteers should still take precautions to minimize possible exposure.

Previous experience is not necessary. The Trail Center will provide all training, tools and gloves, and there will be refreshments at the end of the workday.
