National Trails Day Trail Construction-Coyote Point Recreation Area, Coyote Point Bay Trail

The Trail Center is an all-volunteer organization that, on generally one Saturday each month, constructs and maintains hiking trails in the Bay Area.

On this workday, which is National Trails Day, we’ll be initiating the first of two workdays during which we will be building a new trail and constructing new steps to make the current "run-down-the-hill" use trail (to the beach) behind CuriOdyssey at San Mateo County's Coyote Point Recreation Area safer and accessible for more people. Our work on this workday will involve final brushing of the new trail corridor and the construction of at least a usable half-width tread on about 450 feet of new trail. While much of the existing poison oak will be removed before the workday, volunteers should still take precautions to avoid possible exposure.

Previous experience is not necessary. The Trail Center will provide all training, tools and gloves, and there will be refreshments at the end of the workday.
