Silicon Valley SCORE is looking for a volunteers to help mentor and provide consulting to both small nonprofit start-ups and existing organizations. SCORE provides one on one counseling and mentoring to nonprofits, as well as for profits, with a focus on helping smaller nonprofits or those that are in the process of establishing a nonprofit. We offer this service free and many times act as a coach for our nonprofit clients.

The volunteer should have experience in nonprofit management and have a good overview of how a well-run nonprofit should be organized. Knowledge in several of the following disciplines would be helpful: fundraising, grant writing, project management, volunteer management, financial reporting and budgeting, social media, and general business management. We are looking for professionals who want to give back and help nonprofits succeed.

The work consists of advising and communicating with new executive directors, founders and board members to make sure they are successful in fulfilling their mission. Some of our contacts will be face to face but we also use phone and email for the convenience of our clients. This job is fun because you are helping people to better serve other people and causes and keeps you current in the world of nonprofits, as you discuss strategy and operations and how better manage your nonprofit business.
