E3 - Engage, Enrich, Empower!

Ascencia’s E3 program is a volunteer-driven project to organize and carry out engaging activities that connect homeless and housed youth in a safe and supportive environment. Adult activity leaders work with youth volunteers to organize regularly scheduled events that provide educational, socialization and enrichment activities for the children residing in the shelter.

We are looking for Adult Activity Coordinators to lead activities once per month. The Activity Coordinator will plan a one hour activity for 3-15 youth at our shelter.

We ask that Activity Coodrinators provide any activity suppiles.

About Ascencia

Location:

Mission Statement

Ascencia’s mission is to end homelessness in the greater Glendale area, one person, one family at a time.

Description

We envision a community where people in need can find safe affordable housing and access resources to become self-sufficient. Ascencia is the only comprehensive homeless service organization in the greater Glendale region, providing housing and support services for 1,200 homeless men, women and children every year. We provide street outreach, case management, a 40-bed emergency shelter for 200 residents every year, a Winter Shelter for 500 individuals, and 60 units of permanent supportive housing with 21 additional units to be added over the next 4 months. Ascencia primarily serves homeless families, with an additional focus on chronically homeless adults, U.S. veterans, and frequent utilizers of emergency medical services at local hospitals. We have led the reduction of veteran homelessness in Glendale from 43 to 4, and those last four homeless veterans are in process for housing placement. Without our intervention, many homeless people in need of assistance will be left to live on the streets or in their cars, vulnerable to illness, theft, violence, and even death.
