We are currently looking for volunteers who enjoy working with children, to help us in our project "Educação Sem Fronteiras". We work with rural schools near Xerém, Rio de Janeiro, and we need enthusiastic people with a good level of English and at least basic Portuguese, to give English lessons in two or three different schools, with age groups between 6- 12 years old.
Housing and food will be provided for free for volunteers at the headquarters of our organization, located about 5 km away from the schools. Volunteers only need to be able to buy their airplane tickets, and to obtain a valid Visa to volunteer in Brasil (Casa do Caminho will help with the paperwork required in case of a Volunteer Visa).
We need committed people who can come for a minimum time of 6 months, but one complete year would be preferred. You will have the opportunity to experience a new culture and meet amazing people from very different backgrounds.

Description
Casa do Caminho is an organization based in the rural area surrounding the town of Xerem, very close to Rio de Janeiro. We work to support children coming from poor backgrounds, and support the local public schools, which lack enough teachers. Our volunteers give language and arts lessons in these schools for free, and every weekend we host events at our headquarters where the children can come and experience cultural activities and games, and stay in a safe environment where they learn new things and acquire positive values.
