Background: The LifeSpring program provides housing, for up to two years, for young adults age 18-24 as they make the move from foster living to full independence. A major goal of the LifeSpring program is to coach foster youth so they can get full-time jobs and become financially self-reliant.

Purpose: The Housing Specialist Assistant will support case managers with procuring/shopping for household items and helping to set up the home for LifeSpring clients when they move-in into their new apartments or packing and storing items when they move out. Volunteers can also help with mandatory unit inspections on a monthly basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Lifeline staff with apartment set-ups including some movement of furniture items
  • Assist with constructing boxed/packaged furniture items, if needed
  • Join clients and Lifeline staff in shopping for household and personal items, if needed
  • Accompany Lifeline staff on monthly unit inspections making sure apartments are up to standards
  • After clients graduate from program, volunteers are also needed with move-out process

* Access to transportation (trucks, vans, etc.) is a big plus

Time Commitment:

  • Move in/out support is an On-call position, dependent on when new clients enroll or graduate
  • Unit inspections happen every 5 th and 20 th of the month

Security Checks:

  • TB Test, Drug Screening, and Live Scan Background Check, and Orientation

Qualifications:

  • Interested in supporting transitional-age youth become self-sufficient
  • Demonstrate awareness of trauma-informed, client-driven, and culturally sensitive care
