JOB DESCRIPTIONS FOLLOW THIS BRIEF HISTORY OF FRIENDS OF FERALS:

Northern Colorado Friends of Ferals (NCFF) has spayed, neutered and vaccinated more than 7,000 homeless cats in northern Colorado, potentially preventing thousands of future kittens from being euthanized in our shelters or struggling to survive outdoors.

Our primary goal in 2017 is to tackle the high euthanasia rate in Wyoming through our trap, neuter and return (TNR) clinics. Stray and feral cats are humanely trapped and transported to Fort Collins for surgery, treatment and recovery. Our homeless cats receive the same standard of care as any domestic, client-owned cat. We believe that they have been through enough in their lives already and deserve the best medical care we can afford to give them!

NCFF has also instituted a program to assist colony caregivers with medical treatment, purchasing an X-ray machine and forming alliances with low cost, high-quality veterinarians in the area.

NCFF needs serious and committed volunteers for each of our monthly TNR clinics. This requires a pledge to work a minimum of six Sundays over the course of one year. Our clinics occur over the course of three days. Saturdays, the cats are trapped. Sundays, they are spayed or neutered. And, Mondays they're returned to their colonies or placed into foster care. You can volunteer for one or more of the days. This listing is for clinic positions on Sundays only. See our other listing for non-clinical positions.

The following clinical positions are now available:

Vet Techs and Vet Tech Assistants - On Sunday, volunteers assist our veterinarians with induction, surgical prep, surgery and recovery. Cleaning and moving traps may be required. Veterinary experience is preferred but not required for certain tasks. A two-hour training is required for volunteers to work directly with our animals.

Trap Cleaners - During the clinic on Sunday, you will clean traps while cats are undergoing surgery and recovering, help clinicians return recovered cats to their traps, and monitor the cats in post-recovery. You could be outside in the glorious sunshine and clean air to do this job or inside if it's too hot or cold!

Other - We also need volunteer(s) to wash surgical instruments, be note-takers, or clean at the end of the day.

Northern Colorado Friends of Ferals is committed to bettering the lives of community cats and reducing euthanasia in our shelters through our Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) program, finding homes for kittens, and treating cats with medical needs.

Description

Northern Colorado Friends of Ferals was founded in February 2009 by Leslie Vogt and Jan Link. As of March 2022, our organization has altered more than 12,000 cats and kittens, partnered with rescues & foster networks to find homes for hundreds of felines, and relocated more than 200 cats to barn homes.
